MEET KELLY

Hi I’m Kelly!

Over the last 19 years, I have taught thousands of women and men how to develop a strong core, live with less pain, eat better, feel good in their bodies and live a healthy lifestyle through total wellness.

When I was 25 years old, I was in a major car accident that left me with a serious whiplash injury, chronic neck pain and degenerating disc disease. After getting several doctors opinions I knew I had to take my health into my own hands and utilize my background in Pilates to start my road to recovery.

In 2006, I became a Certified Pilates Instructor with Body Arts and Science International, BASI Pilates. For the past nineteen years, I have specialized in Pre- & Post-Natal Pilates, Pilates for Golfers and athletes, rehabilitation, POTS/Dysautonmia, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Pilates for Osteoporosis/Low Back Pain, and clients with chronic illness.

To give my clients the whole package, I am also became a Certified Holistic Health Coach with Institute for Integrative Nutrition and a Certified Mindful Eating Chef. My studies have allowed me to work with clients to educate them about integrating more plant based foods, the life-changing benefits of nutrition, and living a healthy lifestyle. I even became a Master Gardner to teach my clients how to grow their own food! This has inspired me to write a healthy cookbook series called “Farm Foodie Fitness Homegrown.”

In addition, Beach Pilates & Wellness is currently offers online streaming Pilates classes, private sessions, duets, studio group classes, private groups & bachelorette parties, beach classes (during summer months) and video workouts and programs.

In 2014 I was diagnosed with POTS/Dysautonmia & EDS and in 2021, I found myself suddenly in chronic pain, a heart rate of 280 beats per minute and debilitating low blood pressure that would cause fainting spells. That summer, I had a second heart ablation and then got Covid from the hospital that sent my body and nervous system into a downward spiral and into complete autonomic failure. I was bedridden for almost a year and had to learn to reset my nervous system. It’s taken years to function at 75/80% of what I used to be. At my lowest point I could barely do Pilates for 2 minutes and I would have to crawl just to get to the bathroom. Without Pilates I don’t think I would be able to run my business, heal a broken body, or even be able to care for my family or myself. No one should have to live with an autoimmune disease or chronic pain. I am proof that you can change your life; body, mind and soul with Pilates, nutrition and wellness and a little determination and faith.

I love continuing to learn and I am currently finishing up my Ayurvedic and Homeopathy certifications as well as learning to teach my clients how to slow and reverse the signs of aging! In 2011, I wrote a novel, The Road to Chianti and ran my own Podcast for 2 years, Inspire & Thrive.

When I’m is not running my businesses, I’m at home raising three beautiful kids, 2 crazy dogs, writing, cooking, gardening, and spending time at our old farmhouse on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Just wanted to thank you for being such a wonderful person and teacher!  As my Health Coach you have taught me to understand food and emotion, listening to what the body is saying, and incorporating more raw food into my daily diet.  Especially green juice!!  I feel better about myself and what I'm doing for my body and what I'm teaching my son.  I love your recipe book, "Homegrown," so good!  This hasn't been a journey just about food for me, but life and living the best I can.  Thank you for having me try foods I never have before!  It’s been a wonderful learning experience and I thank you for that!

Kelly is one of those rare people, whom you will remember for a long time.  When my daughter was diagnosed with a chronic health condition and was fighting to regain her health after missing six months of school, Kelly created a Pilates’ based program which helped restore her strength and overall health.  Kelly's work went beyond the exercises: she connected with a shy teen who was in pain; she took each day as it came, pushing as necessary and resting as needed; she brought smiles, healthy recipes, and was a positive role model; she gave a glimpse of a healthier, stronger life and provided the tools and encouragement to attain it.  Happy ending (happy beginning?), my daughter is now back at school, addicted to Pilates, yoga, and other healthy exercise, (and Kelly's green smoothies.)
